Lebanese meatballs stew (Daoud basha)

Meatballs

Ground beef 1 lbs
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Onions, finely chopped 1
Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
Ground cinnamon 1 tsp

For the sauce

Garlic cloves, crushed 3
Diced tomatoes 400 g
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Water 1 cup
Tomato paste 1 tsp

Daoud basha are Lebanese meatballs which are prepared in practically all houses and which is considered to be a very comfortable food.

Directions

  1. Combine together meat, salt , pepper,ground cinnamon, and onions. Make small balls.
  2. In a skillet heat the oil. Add the meatballs and cook until well browned on all sides. Remove meatballs and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet. Put in garlic , cook over medium heat , stirring frequently. Add the meatballs, diced tomatoes and mix gently.
  4. Add the water , salt , pepper,and tomato paste and cook about 15 min.
  5. Serve it with pilaf rice
  6. garnish with toasted pine nuts
