Ingredients

tomatoes peeled and finely chopped 3
olive oil 3 tbsp.
butter 1 tbsp.
water 1 cup
salt 1/2 tsp.
pepper 1/4 tsp.
oregano 1 tsp.
sweet basil 1 tsp.
tomato paste 2 tbsp.
onion finely diced 1
garlic,minced 3 cloves

Pasta Pomodoro is simple,tasty,and total comfort food. Pomodoro in Italian means tomato,the sauce is usually very simple, consisting of little more than tomatoes, olive oil, and a handful of other ingredients to add flavor.

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium high heat. add in onion and garlic, saute 5-7 minutes until soft. add in tomatoes and saute 1 more minute.
  2. Pour tomato paste then pour the hot water over it. Season with salt and pepper, bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, cook pasta in boiling water according to package instructions,
  4. Season the sauce with oregano and sweet basil then add the pasta and toss to coat.
  5. Serve hot topped with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil.
